XXX는 재개발로 사라질 두 채의 할머니 집에 대한 탐구를 만석동의 오래된 집으로 확장하였다. 윤이도는 동네에 뿌리내린 식물을 중심으로 마을의 인상을, 빈집의 조각을 모아 마을의 역사를, 이곳에서 자라고 키워진 것을 통해 마을의 생애를 탐구한다. 만석동 언덕배기에서 내려다본 동네에서, 텅 빈 집 사이사이 올라온 무성한 풀과 나무가 있는 풍경으로부터 누군가 떠난 뒤 빈자리에 들어서는 존재를 기록하려는 것이다. 김태희는 집과 집이 서로 기대어 선 만석동을 하나의 큰 집, 연리지로 보았다. 작가는 만석동을 거닐며 건물 외벽, 시멘트 자국, 도시 구조물, 아스팔트 틈새에 내린 꽃가루와 돌에 묻은 연탄 가루를 캐스팅한다. 마모되거나 풍화하는 것, 계절에 따라 반짝이고 사라지는 것으로 만석동을 떠나는 존재의 투명한 촉감을 기록하려는 것이다. 이렇게 각자의 방식으로 수집한 만석동의 단편을 회화와 조각으로 모아 XXX만의 집짓기를 시도 하고자 한다.
XXX has expanded its exploration of two grandmother's houses, which will disappear due to redevelopment, to the old houses of Manseok-dong. Yoon I-do explores the impression of the village centered around plants rooted in the neighborhood, gathers fragments of empty houses to delve into the history of the village, and investigates the life of the village through what has grown and been nurtured here. From the vantage point of the hillside in Manseok-dong, Yoon aims to record the presence that steps into the empty spaces left behind by someone, amidst the landscape of lush grass and trees sprouting between the vacant houses.
Kim Tae-hee views Manseok-dong as one big house, leaning against each other. As they walk through Manseok-dong, the artist casts flower pollen fallen on building exteriors, cement marks, urban structures, and coal dust buried in stones. Through casting the deteriorating and weathering surfaces, as well as the pollen sparkling and disappearing with the seasons, Kim aims to record the transparent sensation of departing presence from Manseok-dong.
In this way, by collecting fragments of Manseok-dong in their respective ways, XXX seeks to attempt their own form of building a home through painting and sculpture.
