  기획자들만이 모여 꾸리는《과도한전시》는 학교의 복도라는 통로 공간을 ‘갤러리’로 활용하는 특수성에서 비롯되는 한계에 대한 인식에서 출발해, 은유의 방식을 통해 전시 또는 미술계를 이루는 조건에 관해 이야기하고자 한다. 이는 ‘복도갤러리’라는 포맷 안에서 개별 전시가 공간 자체에 대한 관찰 없이 관례화되는 상황과 함께 동시대 미술 전시에서 비판적 성찰 없이 반복되는 요소들에 대한 언급이기도 하다. 본 전시는 필요하지만 필요하지 않은, 혹은 필요해 보이지 않으나 어쩌면 필수적일지도 모르는 억제된 조건들을 극단적으로 확장한다. 이러한 과장은 오히려 그것과 더불어 유희하고자 하는 것으로 전시는 과도해지기를 자처하며, 스스로 엔터테인먼트가 된다.

  3부로 구성된 본전시에서 시·공간적 차를 두고 설치되는 <과도한조명>, <과도한오프닝>, <과도한식물> 은 모두 이러한 조건에 대한 은유이다. <과도한조명>은 통로의 일정 구간 양 벽면에 촘촘하게 달린 백색 조명으로 이루어져 맞은편 서로의 텅 빈 벽면을 강한 조도로 비춘다. 전시 기간 내내 설치되는 <과도한조명>을 배경으로 삼아 일시적인 이벤트 <과도한오프닝>이 행해진다. 이때 오프닝의 다과는 샐러드부터 시작해 디저트까지 포함하는 코스 요리의 형태로 서빙되며, 길어진 식사 시간으로 말미암아 일종의 퍼포먼스가 된다. 마지막으로, 전시 중반 설치되는 화환에 대한 언급인 <과도한식물>은 시각적으로 아름다우면서도, 생물임에도 불구하고 마치 조각 혹은 설치와 같은 느낌을 주는 기이한 분위기 를 연출한다.

  The exhibition "Excessive Exhibition," organized by curators without artists, begins with an awareness of the limitations stemming from the unique use of school corridors as "galleries," aiming to discuss the conditions that constitute exhibitions or the art world through metaphorical means. It is also an acknowledgment of situations where individual exhibitions within the format of "corridor galleries" become standardized without observing the space itself and the repeated elements in contemporary art exhibitions without critical reflection. This exhibition exaggerates and expands the conditions that may be necessary but unnecessary, or may seem unnecessary but perhaps essential. This exaggeration serves to make the exhibition itself entertaining.

  This exhibition is divided into three parts. <Excessive Lighting>, <Excessive Opening>, and <Excessive Plants>, installed with a spatial and temporal gap, are all metaphors for these conditions. <Excessive Lighting> consists of densely spaced white lights on certain sections of the corridor walls, illuminating the empty walls on the opposite side with strong intensity. The <Excessive Opening>, held as a temporary event against the backdrop of the <Excessive Lighting> installed throughout the exhibition period, serves a course meal format ranging from salads to desserts and becomes a kind of performance due to the extended mealtime. Finally, <Excessive Plants>, mentioned during the mid-exhibition installation of floral arrangements, creates a visually stunning yet somewhat eerie atmosphere, resembling sculptures or installations despite being living organisms.
